Ten podcasts every PA should listen to
I don’t think I’ve shared this before but I love podcasts, and I have for years. They are more popular than ever, and there are loads of podcasts that can help you with your personal and professional development. I listen to a lot of podcasts and so I thought today I’d share my top ten podcasts every PA should listen to.
I have put together a mixture of podcast aimed directly at Assistants and more general business development suggestions. Enjoy, and get listening!
Being Indispensable is brought you by the incredible Liz Van Vliet. The podcast is full of ‘a-ha’ moments that will make Assistants sit up and listen to advice that you really can implement straight away. Episodes include Five Tips to Help Executive Assistants Manage Up, Fighting Imposter Syndrome, How can you be a star without needing to be THE star and my personal favourite Habits to Break: Guilt and over apologising.
The Leader Assistant
Another fantastic podcast for Assistants from the exceptional Jeremy Burrows, EA at Capacity and Founder of Goburrows.com. The Leader Assistant Podcast exists to encourage and challenge assistants to become irreplaceable, game-changing leaders. This practical and inspiring podcast for assistants – hosted by Jeremy Burrows – covers topics such as leadership, productivity, time management, how to avoid burnout, and artificial intelligence as it relates to the future of assistants.
Be the Ultimate Assistant Podcast
I’m sure you are all familiar with the powerhouse team Bonnie Low-Kramen and Vickie Sokol Evans, but you might not know that they have put together a brilliant podcast Be the Ultimate Assistant. The podcast episodes are packed full of great interviews with high profile EAs, tough and challenging conversations about the role and of course loads of practical takeaways for every Assistant in the position today.
No Limits” with Rebecca Jarvis is a great podcast full of inspiring stories from women who are rocking their career. Well worth a listen if you want to hear from successful women who talk openly about their mistakes and their successes in equal measure!
Stuff Mom Never Told You
This podcast is vast, and there is a lot of content to sift through, but on their website, they have the podcasts categorised so that you can focus on the business-related stuff (although all of the podcasts are pretty interesting).
Girl Boss Radio
I’m a big fan of Sophia Amoruso’s straight-talking style, and I love that the first thing she did when starting Nasty Gal was hiring an Assistant who she paid more than herself. Anyway, this podcast is full of useful tips from powerful business owners.
Lead to Win
Michael Hyatt is an absolute business guru, and in the podcast, Lead to Win, he talks about through career challenges that most of us face including perfectionism, failure, how to deliver on deadline, how to say no… There is pretty much a brilliant takeaway from every episode.
Ted Radio Hour
A whole hour with your favourite TED Talks. If you love an excellent TED Talk (and who doesn’t?), this is the podcast for you. In the TED Radio Hour, the Guy Raz interviews those that have presented at TED and explored their talks in more depth.
Manager Tools is a weekly business podcast focused on helping professionals become more effective managers and leaders. Each week, they discuss specific actions for professionals to take to achieve their desired management and career objectives.
This is always at the top of my podcast tray because I need constant reminders to be productive and in Productivityist, they give you lots of helpful tips on how you manage your time better and get stuff done!
