What is Box?

Box is a cloud-based system that allows users to store files, back-up and sync data and collaborate on documents in real time.

What does Box do?

Box is a freemium platform that works similarly to other cloud-based systems. It allows users to store large documents and back up data files. But, and this is the cool part, it also has a feature that lets users collaborate on documents in real time. Some other great features include:

  • Share essential files without email attachments, instead send a link for the recipient to download the document directly.
  • Set expiration dates and assign passwords for files for added security
  • Preview documents without having to download them first
  • Inbuilt task management software so that you can send a document and assign the recipient a task on the same platform

Box is available across all platforms, and they also have an app for iOS and Android devises. It also integrates with most office software including Office 365, Slack, Salesforce etc.

Why does it benefit Assistants?

If you work for a small business, it is always worth reviewing your document management systems. Box is a secure cloud-based storage solution which is reasonably priced and has added features that you might not get with your current provider. For Assistants, it is always worth knowing what collaboration and file sharing tools are on the market because different businesses will have different platforms and if you change your job you might have to start using something new.
