Back in December (I know, it feels like a while ago now) I spent a few weeks travelling around Australia; meeting friends and family, attending some work stuff and generally doing some sightseeing. We travelled a lot! In three short weeks we visited Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide again. It was a whistle stop tour and we crammed a lot in! It was tough going at times, especially with two kids in tow, but we were very lucky to stay at some wonderful hotels and today I thought I would let you know a little bit more about our stay in Sydney. Specifically, our time in the PARKROYAL Darling Harbour.
For anyone who has been to Australia in December, or for any of you who are indeed Australian, you will know it is hot… Hot, hot, hot! On our first day in the city we jumped straight out of a plane from Brisbane into the hot metropolis that is the Sydney CBD, we decided to do a little sightseeing before we made our way to the hotel, so as you can imagine after a few hours walking around the city centre we were a hot and sweaty mess. Thank goodness for the PARKROYAL! What can I say, it is an oasis. Located in Darling Harbour, the PARKROYAL is in the perfect spot. Close to all the entertainment that Darling Harbour provides, within walking distance of the financial district and shopping areas, it really is in a great location.
On arrival you just feel relaxed, the space has been beautifully designed and you know as soon as you start speaking to the staff that you are in good hands. After a very easy checking in process, we were taken up to our Executive Suite, which was located on the top floor of the hotel. The views out over the harbour were breathtaking. The suite itself was lovely and comfortable with a big king-sized bed, huge bathroom and a separate living space with a big sofa and space for a desk and area to work. With access to the PARKROYAL Club, just next door, the suite was perfect for a busy Executive who needs a private luxurious space to work and relax after meetings in the city.
In fact, the privileges given to those who book the PARKROYAL Club experience are well worth the cost. Here are the added extras:
- Executive breakfast from 6:30am to 10:30am
- Twilight drinks and canapés from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
- All-day refreshments
- Business facilities and concierge service
- Complimentary access to the Club Boardroom for one hour (reservation required)
- Complimentary Internet access
- Guaranteed late check-out (12:00pm)
Here is the low down on what you can expect if you book the PARKROYAL Darling Harbour.
Eight Executive Essentials
Complimentary high speed WiFi in the Executive Suite. After a tricky time finding decent WiFi in other hotels, it was great finding WiFi that just worked.
Comfortable, ergonomic workspace which is separate from the bedroom. With the Executive club next door there are plenty of options for a busy Executive to get some work done.
Informal Meeting Space
Again, there are loads of options for an informal meeting. Guests can use the boardroom for an hour or formally book a meeting room. There is the Adobe Bistro for a quick coffee or sit down meal and Barkers Restaurant for a breakfast meeting.
Extremely comfortable night’s sleep despite the very central location.
The service was great. Everyone was very attentive, particularly in the Executive Club.
Family / Leisure Time
With Darling Harbour on your doorstep there are loads of options for downtime. We had our 2 and 1 year old with us and they had a great time running around the harbour and playing in the kid’s splash pools. The gym is fully equipped or if you fancy going out for a run again the harbour is right outside (although a little hot for running in December!)
I felt really relaxed while staying at the PARKROYAL. It just has that feel. To be honest, I’m still struggling to get my head around the fact it is a 4 star hotel. It feels like a 5 star hotel.
Room Service and Food
We ordered room service and we also ate in the Abode Restaurant. Both meals were good. The service was great and we felt really looked after.
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend the PARKROYAL Darling Harbour. It is a great hotel.
Practically Perfect PA received complimentary accommodation at the PARKROYAL Darling Harbour. Opinions are entirely our own.
