For most assistants working in the UK the Squaremeal website and guide is a well-loved and trusted resource. For many years I have consulted the guide for restaurant and venue ideas, it has always been my first port of call when managers have asked me to book restaurants for them. With over 5,000 up to date restaurant and bar reviews on the Squaremeal website, there really isn’t a better place to start for any assistant looking to find a new place to impress their boss. I have also used both the website and the Squaremeal guide for numerous events, from small external meetings to week long residential conferences. Every type of venue you can imagine is featured with loads of information.
Squaremeal Venues + Events Live
Squaremeal organises one of the largest exhibitions for event organisers and assistants and this year is no exception. On the 21st and 22nd September 2016 in Old Billingsgate, London, Squaremeal Venues + Events Live will once again host over over 250 venues and event suppliers, plus plenty of fizz and cocktails! Over the course of the two day show there are plenty of activities for attendees.
The exhibition itself is spread across 5 floors and an outside terrace, the seminar programme is great for busy assistants with lots of bite-size training on top new restaurants, hot venues and social media for events. Plus there are great educational seminars from some great speakers including a session on Curating Your Career Path. A panel discussion comparing routes into the events profession, transferable skills and what you can do to fast track your career.
Squaremeal Venues + Events Live will also feature lots of delicious tasting sessions, including Fizz for Events, Cocktails for Events, a sushi-making Masterclass and the legendary annual Squaremeal Canapé Cup (where visitors taste and judge canapés from top caterers.) On the 21st September the keynote speaker is Angela Hartnett, who is also doing a book signing after her presentation. On day two of the show Duck & Waffle Chef Dan Doherty will be presenting and signing books for attendees.
This really is the event to attend for assistants who need inspiration for outstanding parities, conferences, corporate hospitality, team building, training days, company away days, hotel bookings, residential conferences, restaurant, private room hire, meeting spaces, off-site activities, drinks receptions, gala dinners, summer and Christmas parties and much much more.
The exhibition and the seminar programme are completely free to attend, which for assistants are a real bonus. All you have to do is tell your boss you want to take a day out of the office to meet with potential suppliers but also attend FREE training sessions. Other than being out of the office for the day (which is the same as taking a holiday) your company really doesn’t have anything to lose in letting you attend Squaremeal Venues + Events Live. In fact, they will have a whole lot to gain. Book your place for free now.
