The best thing about the Hotel Giraffe is the location. It is smack bang in the middle of Midtown, on the corner of 26th Street and Park Avenue South. A perfect location for business travellers and tourists alike. The second best thing about Hotel Giraffe is the complimentary wine and cheese reception every evening. It is lovely to see all of the guests wonder down for a glass of wine and a few canapés before leaving for their evening in Manhattan. It certainly is an added extra that makes guests feel really looked after.
It is nice to instantly feel comfortable in a hotel, especially when the weather is so utterly dreadful that you can’t really leave your hotel for longer than an hour before you freeze to death. Yes, during my stay in New York the polar vortex had returned with a vengeance only this time it had brought rain, sleet AND snow. Lovely! When the outside world is that bad all you want is a warm, cosy and welcoming roof over your head. The Giraffe certainly offered all three.
I had a lovely balcony suite overlooking Park Avenue. The suite came with a huge king size bed, separate bathroom and living room. My evening was pretty much planned – cheese and wine reception followed by some quality time on the sofa in my dressing gown with the welcome bottle of wine and chocolates the staff had presented to me on arrival. Another perfect touch!
I woke the next day completely refreshed, as had the weather! New York actually had some sunshine! I grabbed my free city gym pass and hit the treadmill, mostly to work off the previous evening’s chocolate fest. On my return, the hotel was in full breakfast mode. As with every hotel in the Library Collection breakfast is complimentary and brilliant. They have a great selection of cereals, fruits, bagels and other continental goodies. The Giraffe really does care about its guests – it is so evident in the way breakfast is served. The staff ensure everyone is okay and has everything they need. The service is impeccable.
Another – and again this is complimentary – aspect of the hotel is its free and fast WiFi. I spent a lot of time catching up on emails and the WiFi was perfect. The hotel is a lovely place to sit and work because… yup you guessed it… there are complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day.
It was a shame that I only had one night in Hotel Giraffe because it is just a great hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to New York.
Why book The Hotel Giraffe for your boss? It is in a fantastic location. It has super fast and reliable WiFI which along with the relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to work. It doesn’t nickel and dime its guests in anyway so your boss will not have to put too much on expenses which is great for assistants too! No receipts to sort out!
