Del Frisco’s, Boston
There are breathtaking countries and then there is America. There are incredible cities and then there is Boston. There are amazing Stakehouses and then there is Del Frisco’s. This is a five star, “Double Eagle”, 1lb slice of cake type of restaurant. It is simply the best dining experience I’ve ever enjoyed.
Entering Del Frisco’s the first thing that feasts are your eyes. This is a wonderful looking restaurant full of deep sunken black leather chairs and sofas and Boston inspired artwork. The place was buzzing with noisy dinners packing every area of the split level, a feature that really gives the space depth. Business types mixed with the college kids from across the water and families from the surrounding area. With a view across the harbor from Liberty Wharf the setting for this “much more than a Steakhouse” is as spectacular as the interior. If you eat with your eyes we were pretty full already.
Del Frisco’s sums up everything that during our two month trip we discovered was great about America. The restaurant has the most welcoming of atmospheres. There is a really warm heart felt level of service. It didn’t seem to matter who you were, how you were dressed or what you ordered the service, speed and quality of the food and wine was first class.
Before our proper feast we were introduced to Brandon our Sommerlier. Brittany the Wine Director. Derek the Executive Chef and Anthony the General Manager. Each more welcoming and enthusiastic than the last. Each recommending something that would be happily and greadily added to our table. We assumed meeting the Executive Chef and the Wine Director was a reviewer only privilege but we had no doubt that every other table had a chat with the manager and the wine man. It is that kind of place. There are staff everywhere and everyone is there to ensure that your experience lives up to the hype on the website: “extraordinary Boston stake house experience” it is.
What sets Del Frisco’s apart as the best Stakehouse chain in the US isn’t a wacky menu. We all know the staple menu in a great American Stakehouse and one of the charms is that Del Frisco’s doesn’t deviate from this heritage. Like any decent Stakehouse you know there are hefty stakes, fresh seafood, massive deserts, Bourbon and fine wine however here everything just seems exalted. Steaks come on the bone, with half a lobster, crab cakes are layered with almost nothing but crab and deserts really do come by the 1lb. Our pictures do the food justice. So I will let them do the talking.
In our personal life and in our work life we have people who we know are never happy. For these people it may be sunny now but it will be raining soon. A high is avoided for fear of the low. In your dealings with these types it is essential that you deliver. So deliver them to Del Frisco’s and let their team look after the rest. If you live work or have business in the following eleven places in the USA you need not worry. As well as Boston there is a “Double Eagle Steakhouse” in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Worth, Houston, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia and Washington. You lucky, lucky people.
