The Langham Hotel, London was Europe’s first ‘Grand Hotel’ opening its doors in 1865. The hotel is an exquisite five star luxury property and one of the best known hotels in London. It is also one of London’s eight Leading Hotels of the World.
The hotel is a few minutes stroll from Oxford Street tube station in the very heart of London’s retail mecca. Many of the guests, we saw in the hotel looked like they had attempted to empty Oxford Street’s department stores as they arrived laden with various bulging shopping bags. We stayed one evening between Christmas and New Year and it was obvious that the hotel was a base for those taking advantage of the post Christmas sales.
We were very fortunate to be able to stay in a Grand Executive Room, which was a high perched stunning corner room with a view over busting Regent Street. The room was to the highest standard. Beautifully light and open the room felt much bigger than the 33m2. A huge bed dominated the room facing the TV and the outside world beyond.
Eight Executive Essentials
Worked well throughout the hotel and was complementary. Very quick to log in.
A large solid desk with a very comfortable chair could easily keep your executive comfy for a few hours.
Informal meeting space
One of the strengths of the hotel is the variety of spaces available for client meetings or a sociable catch up. With Palm Court and the Artesian Bar The Langham has two of the most indulgent retreats in the city.
Despite the proximity to two of London’s busiest streets, Oxford and Regent the seemingly bullet proof windows ensured a very quiet nights rest.
Overall the service at the Langham was faultless. There are certain things you hope for in a hotel of this standard and the service across the hotel was fantastic.
Family / Leisure
No doubt owing to the festive season the hotel was packed with families. So that’s testament to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Langham would certainly be a choice getaway for the family.
The Langham has a great Spa, with large swimming pool as well as a gym next to a sauna and steam room. Being able to properly unwind in luxury would add an extra element to an Executive’s stay.
Room Service and food
Room service is available 24hours. We sampled the afternoon tea and evening canapés as well as breakfast. None of it disappointed.
