As a little girl I loved spending time in my local library so imagine my excitement when I found myself spending a night in a library themed hotel – in New York City! Walking into the lobby from the hustle and bustle of Madison Avenue you do feel like you are in a rather sophisticated library. There are books everywhere! With everything that New York has to offer, visitors need a bit of peace and quiet and a place to relax – The Hotel Library offers all three!
My check-in was completely stress free and the reception staff were fabulous. Each floor of the hotel is dedicated to different categories of books – I was on the science floor and my home away from home was to be the ‘Dinosaur Room’. The Deluxe room was lovely and cosy with lots of great amenities including a bathrobe, slippers and Gilchest & Soames bath products. I loved the theme throughout the hotel and it worked particularly well in the bedroom.
After much exploring of New York City, including a trip to the New York Public Library just across the road, I settled into the Reading Room for the evening drinks and canapé reception – complimentary for guests. The reception was a lovely way to enjoy a relaxing few hours with a glass of prosecco and a good book. The staff were very attentive during the reception ensuring my glass was always topped up.
The Hotel Library along with the reading room also has a rooftop bar and terrace with a great selection of cocktails. The place was packed with locals which is always a good sign, especially considering New Yorkers have a lot of rooftop bars to pick from!
I had a fabulous night sleep followed by an equally fabulous breakfast. Again the breakfast is complimentary for guests and offers a wide range of options including fruit, toasted bagels, cereals, pastries plus a continental selection of cheeses and meats.
The Hotel Library is part of the Library Collection of Hotels. I have stayed in all four hotels and I can honestly say they are all fantastic in their own unique way. There are a number of reasons I would recommend the Library collection of hotel, here are just a few:
- I absolutely applaud the service in each hotel – it really is impeccable. The staff are a real credit to the owners.
- Each hotel has a different price point but the service, decor and amenities are of a similarly high standard.
- The location of each hotel is great, very central but quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of New York.
The main reason however is this – the Library Collection obviously care about their guests. WiFI and breakfast are both complimentary, which is incredibly rare these days. The evening reception boarders on extravagant! Guests are able to drink and eat for free every night of their stay from 5-8pm. Now, don’t get me wrong, the wine and canapés are not a substitute for an evening meal or a night on the town but it does help the wallet and in New York visitors really do need every penny!
