What is Survey Monkey?

Survey Monkey is a website which allows users to create really simple online surveys.

What does it do?

Survey Monkey has a number of features but its fundamental function is to create really simple surveys. The platform allows users to create different types of questions on their survey, from drop down answers to free text boxes. Those answering the survey can skip questions because of the inbuilt logic functions and those designing the survey can add their organisation’s logo and branding.

Once the survey has been completed, users have access to the answers and analytics in an array of tables and charts.

Users can send surveys via mobile, web and social media and the site is integrated with partners such as MailChimp and Eventbrite. The basic functions are free and easy to use. The cost of the additional features start from £26 per month.

Technology of the week: Survey Monkey

How does it benefit assistants?

A few years ago I was asked to put together a paper based survey for my organisation’s HR department who wanted some feedback from the entire London office. I immediately suggested Survey Monkey instead of a paper based questionnaire because it would save me hours and hours of time. The survey was completely anonymous, the link was sent via email to all staff and the results were collated automatically by Survey Monkey.

This was a few years ago and I think most organisations have moved away from paper based surveys now but it is is still worth pointing out how useful Survey Monkey is for all types of feedback – from the Christmas party to your performance on a project that you have managed.

I also like the survey tips they offer on the website, I’ve found these really useful over the years if I have been asked to put together a survey from scratch.

Why is it Practically Perfect PA’s technology of the week?

I use Survey Monkey all the time because of how simple it is and because it integrates with other platforms like MailChimp. Survey Monkey has been around a long time now but it is still the best at what it does and it is free!
