For those of you that are not celebrating Thanksgiving today I thought I would move very swiftly into our next seasonal celebration – Christmas! Last year I wrote a blog which was full of secret santa present ideas for your office Christmas parties. I had some good feedback at the time so thought I’d re-publish the post for you all. Most of you will have your parties over the next few weeks so I hope you find my ideas useful…

It is that time of year again – Christmas parties, sparkly dresses, an indescribable amount of mulled wine and a stash of minced pies to ward off unwanted hangovers. Yup you’ve guessed it – December, where the best kept secret in the office is who has whom for their secret santa. I must admit I have always encouraged secret santa when organising the office Christmas party but do end up rushing around on the day of the party trying to actually purchase something. This is because I was… you know… organising the Christmas party! I’ve also had some terrible secret santa presents (one year I got a bumper sticker… I didn’t own a car).

As I am in Barcelona and Christmas hasn’t really kicked off yet I thought I’d indulge my inner festive spirit (my surname is Christmas after all!) by sharing some of my secret santa ideas for those stressed out assistants who are just too busy trying desperately to get their colleague’s Xmas menu choices. All my ideas are under £10.

Keep it up in the new year! By the way, how are you spending your Christmas in Barcelona? Any good place to go? or any good venue in case we need to have international events in the coming years.. thanks.

Hi Nicky. I tend to keep it simple – tasteful photo frames, candle holders, vases and anything to do with wine. I recently bought a set of gorgeous glass bottle stoppers at one of our home stores’ online shopping site for only R50 (I’m from South Africa), which I less than 5 pounds your side of the world!

As my one friend says, she cannot see the logic in giving someone wine bottle stoppers, because in her world, there is not such a thing as leftover wine 🙂

Keep up with the fabulous posts – I enjoy them immensely. Wishing you a very joyful Christmas, Ms Christmas!
