The Westbury is in the heart of London’s Mayfair area dangerously close to all of the amazing shops that London has to offer. The day prior to my stay at The Westbury I had arrived into London from New York and as you can imagine I was still feeling the full affects of a red eye flight. As I walked into my suite I felt the stress and tiredness slip away. The furniture and decor in the living room and bedroom were unbelievably plush. Sitting on the sofa felt like being hugged by your favourite relative. The detail and opulence in each suite perfectly matched the Mayfair surroundings and the chic clientele.
Staff at The Westbury were exceptionally helpful. I decided to go for a run around the nearby Hyde Park and on my way out they asked if I would like a map or needed any help – unfortunately they wouldn’t do the run for me. Although the hotel was extremely busy the staff really took the time to make me feel welcome. Following my run I jumped into the huge bath tub filled with Hermes products and happily splashed about for more time than probably necessary. The living space in the suite was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some Saturday night TV before a much needed early night. The hotel was, however, still jumping. The Polo Bar was full of locals and hotel residence and the Tsukiji Restaurant was very popular too. The Westbury is also home to a Michelin starred restaurant run by Alyn Williams.
I was slightly surprised that there was not a coffee/tea making facility in the bedrooms. When I phoned reception to ask they informed me I would have to go to the lounge to buy a hot drink. Considering the hotel is a 5* property I felt this was a little on the stingy side, particularly as the mini bar prices were extortionate.
After a fantastic night’s sleep I had a wonderful breakfast in the Polo Lounge. The restaurant was very busy and the wait for the food was quite a bit longer than you would normally expect. The hotel had informed guests that the breakfast service would be slow, which I thought was a nice touch. The breakfast, once it arrive was certainly worth waiting for! The portions were really generous and the quality of the food was great. I was so full, I decided to skip lunch. The check in and check out process was quick and I was out on the sunny sidewalk feeling relaxed, full and happy!
Why book The Westbury for your boss? The location is fantastic and close to great shops and restaurants. There are also three different restaurants in the hotel and your boss could easily invite clients to the hotel for dinner. Although it is a 5* hotel it does not have the ‘wow’ factor of other 5* hotels in London but it is slightly cheaper, particularly for suites.
