This is the foyer at The Nolitan, which is quite possibly New York’s coolest hotel. Located in the seriously hip area of NoLita (North of Little Italy) The Nolitan is a contemporary boutique hotel with lots of character.
The Nolitan is the first luxury hotel to open in the NoLita area. It is within walking distance of SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown, The Bowery and the rest of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Basically this is where the cool kids hang out. The Nolitan staff are a good looking bunch; they probably work in hospitality to help fund their start-up or a gritty documentary. That isn’t to say they aren’t helpful and welcoming – they are.
The foyer was a great spot to sit and do some work. Cantine Parisienne, The hotel’s restaurant, offers guests a fusion of modern French and American cuisine. The brunch menu looked great and they do a seriously strong coffee! Guests are spoilt for choice as far as dining options are concerned as there are loads of restaurants and cafes nearby.
There are 55 hotel rooms ranging in size and price. The queen size bed was perfect and the 300 thread count linen made it really comfortable.
Like the Foyer area, The Nolitan bedrooms were cool and quirky with lots of funky accessories. My bedroom had a very light and contemporary feel. The designers had obviously thought about how to make the best use of the space.
The open bathroom ensured the room was light and bright but it was also a little disconcerting at first! Luckily, there was a privacy curtain and separate W.C. Considering the room’s sharp edges the towels and bathrobes were particularly fluffy.
The Red Flower bath products smelt amazing and I loved the branded Nolitan shower cap and vanity products. For a small space the bathroom was perfect and had great amenities. The make up mirror was a bonus as was the powerful hairdryer.
The view from the balcony was fantastic. I absolutely loved waking up to see my favourite New York Building – The Chrysler. The Empire State Building isn’t bad either!
I spent quite a bit of time in the foyer area as the WiFi signal was pretty useless up in the room. It just so happened that I was in the foyer for the Sips & Savories Happy Hour which takes place most days. I soon forgot the bad WiFi signal once the free wine and cheese appeared.
As cool as I felt during my stay at The Nolitan I thought it best to avoid taking up the skateboard hire… For less adventurous guests, bicycles were also available.
Why book The Nolitan for your boss? If your boss is cool, or thinks that they are cool then The Nolitan will be right up their street. Also this is a great alternative to all of the boring standard hotels near the financial district. It is so close to Wall Street but could be in a completely different world. The nearby restaurants are fantastic and the local area is certainly up and coming.
