I had never been to Geneva before so I didn’t quite know what to expect – except obviously a big lake. I have, however, booked many many business trips to Geneva over the years so I had the impression that most of the hotels would service businessmen and women. Business hotels tend to be a little soulless. Functional but not much to look at. Imagine my surprise on entering Hotel N’vY I was instantly surrounded by fantastic paintings and sculptures, funky furniture, splashes of bright colours and cool lighting. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting but gosh was I pleased. This is my kind of hotel.

The location is a good place to start when talking about Hotel N’vY. I actually walked to the hotel from the central train station, which took about 15 minutes. Obviously a cab would whisk you there in minutes. The hotel isn’t quite on the lake but it is a stone’s throw away and the view from my bedroom window was breathtaking.

The bedroom itself is as pretty as the rest of the hotel. I loved the light airy feel, apparently inspired by light therapy, and I thought the layout of the room worked particularly well.

Hotel N’vY is a great base from which to explore the rest of Geneva. I ventured out to see what the city had to offer and sample some of the famous Swiss food – well cheese mostly. On my return, the hotel restaurant and bar were buzzing. I people watched from the bar for a while before retiring to my comfy king size bed.

After a good night sleep and an even better bath I hotfooted it down to breakfast as I had left it pretty late to get my complementary grub. I needn’t have worried as there were still plenty of late risers enjoying breakfast / brunch.

Sitting at breakfast I was able to get a good look at the artwork on show in the hotel. It is great and really adds to the character of the place. The hotel is definitely ‘cool’ but in the best sense of the word. It doesn’t seem like it is trying to hard.

I had a few more days left in Geneva but I would have happily stayed in Hotel N’vY for the entire trip. It really is a great hotel.

Why book Hotel N’vY for your boss? It is different and I like that about hotels. If your boss is going to Geneva on business Hotel N’vY is a smart choice – it is in a great location, the restaurant and bar are lovely, it is reasonably priced and it has character. What more could your boss possible want? Actually don’t answer that!
